Greed
The fifth deadly sin is greed. Greed is a selfish wanting of something. Greed is a desire for something and lots of it.
Dr. Facilier A.k.a the shadow man
"I hear you. Now, what's in it for you? Well, as soon as I dispose of "Big Daddy" La Bouff, then I'm gonna run this town. I'll have the entire city of New Orleans in the palm of my hand. And you'll have all the wayward souls your dark little hearts desire. You all love that, don't you? So, we got ourselves a deal? " -- Dr. Facilier
Dr. Facilier A.K.A. The Shadow Man is the main villain in the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog. In this movie The Shadow Man practices voodoo and transforms a prince and a girl named Tiana into frogs for his own purposes. He does this because he wants to get rid of “Bid Daddy La Bouff” so he can then run Louisiana. This is pure greed, he wants to run the town and own it at the cost of someone else’s life and he doesn’t care whose . His goal is to own the town and he doesn’t care who he hurts in the process.
In this clip from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog you can see Dr. Facilier’s greed shine through. In this scene he is talking to Lawrence and telling him that they have to go through with the plan because all that there is in life is money. The only power they can have is money he explains and then they will be able to rule. He also tells Lawrence that they are going to split the money down the middle “60/40”. This shows more greed when he is not even willing to split the money 50/50, he has to have more.
captain barbossa
"And how does a maid come to own a trinket such as that? Family heirloom, perhaps?" -- Captain Barbossa
Captain Barbossa is the main villain in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Barbossa and his crew are not living nor are they dead. They tried to steal a chest of Aztec gold but there had been a curse put on the chest, that if any mortal were to touch it they would be cursed for eternity. This is a perfect example of the greed that Barbossa possessed. He wanted the gold so bad that he didn’t care what happened to him and he suffered the consequences, he was cursed for eternity.
In this clip from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean you can see Barbossa talking to Ms. Turner. He kidnapped her for his own gain so he could get back the Aztec coin she has so he can change himself back to human. Even after being greedy and getting himself cursed for eternity Barbossa still doesn’t learn his lesson. After he was cursed he spends all his time trying to find the coins to put back into the chest so he can turn himself back to human. He doesn’t care who he has to hurt to do it, this is a great example of his greed.
Clayton
"Hiding, are we? Good! I could use a challenge, because after hunting you, gathering up your little ape family will be all too easy!"-- Clayton
Clayton is the villain in Disney’s Tarzan. Clayton fits into the deadly sin of greed because he is hungry for money and power and is extremely harsh in his way of getting these things. Clayton is very cruel in his treatment of Tarzan and of the apes and none of this fazes him. Clayton is a very manipulative man who used anybody and anything to make himself rich. He just saw the gorillas as a way to make money and didn’t care that he would be hurting them.
In this scene from Disney’s Tarzan you can see Clayton trying to get Tarzan to show him where the gorillas are. He is holding a gun and says that he can make Tarzan tell him where they are. You can tell from his body language and his tone that he doesn’t want to find the gorillas for good reasons. This shows his greed and how he will do anything to find the gorillas and make himself rich.
